CREOCELL PILOT PLANT

The pilot plant at our site in Enns/Austria demonstrates the performance of the technology and manufactures CREOCell anode, cathode and trilayer electrode roll goods and samples for Lithium Ion cell and module manufacturer for different projects in automotive or stationary battery projects. 

Abstract

MISSON STATEMENT

CREOCell will be one of the preferred Li-Ion production technologies in future through highest energy storage density, energy efficiency and highest environmental safety.

MARKET

The battery market is one of the quickest emerging markets with highest demand on CAPEX, app. EUR 70 Mio. per GWh/a for a cell production line. With CREOCell cost can be cut in half for the electrode manufacturing with additionally lower COGS.

New planned factories have an average size ­of up to 100 GWh/a and consist of several smaller production lines in parallel, similar to the size of our pilot plant.

So, there are many applications for CREONIA to licence the technology and set up demo plants in factories to demonstrate cell performance increase and cost savings.

CREOCell technology is open to almost all kinds of Materials used in Li-Ion Batteries, even up to solid state, so there is a broad field of applications.

COMPETITORS

The technology is very simple. Extrusion processes are well known in many industrial applications and so a lot of process engineering know-how is available. When transferring this technology to Li-Ion manufacturing there are many hidden details, so it’s quite hard to copy the process. Till now there are no competitors visible who tried something similar.

There are some projects going on with ­Bipolar stacking, using conventionally manufactured electrodes, but so far with limited success due to quality issues.

ACHIEVEMENTS

We started with first developments in 2020, which showed very promising results. In 2021, the CREOCell lab line was engineered and manufactured for the extrusion of the first CREOCell free standing electrodes. In 2022 CREOCell trilayers were produced and successfully tested. In 2023, the pilot line with a capacity of up to 700 MWh per year is installed and makes electrodes available for first applications like stationary storage applications in the grid or behind-the-meter.

FINANCE

We are looking for strategic Investors which can speed up the implementation of our CREOCell technology by production scale up and development and market introduction of the final sales products.

The team of many hard working dedicated academic research and development employees is headed by the founder, chemist and General Manager Dr. Markus Ungerank with many years of experience in leading research and development projects in technical applications from the first lab experiments to the market launch of the final products.
